99 Degrees Fahrenheit

It was a very hot Sunday so we had to cancel our plans. Instead of getting up early for a Spring walk, we slept in, had Chinese breakfast and then ended up in a theater to see a 3-D movie called Monsters Verse Aliens. Accompany us were the two minors whom we have secretly named The Princess and The Animal. The movie was entertaining and we all enjoyed watching it except The Princess. During the movie, The Princess kept snacking on popcorn and slurping on a cold drink. She tossed and turned, sighed, and refused to wear a pair of 3-D glasses. Towards half of the movie as all the goodies were gone, The Princess then lifted up the armrests between the seats and laid down on her stomach as if she was sun bathing at the beach. When the movie was over, we headed to the beach to please The Princess. As soon as we got to the sea shore, The Princess took off her sparkling heels to feel the sand with her tiny toes. “Oh, the sand is so soft. I love it!” Exclaimed The Princess. The Animal smiled and started looking for seashells. We had a fun time building a sand castle on a rock while waiting for my BFF shoot some sunset photos. We played until the sun went below the horizon. After we left we decided to take a long way home by crossing the ocean on a ferry. The Princess enjoyed the ride but felt asleep right after the ferry landed. We were all tired and hungry but decided to return the guests to their home first then head out for dinner. My BFF had to carry The Princess home and I followed with The Animal quietly. We were invited to stay for food but we declined. We needed to refresh ourselves so off we went to another beach to end our hot night with a cold cider for my BFF and a cold black and tan for me.

Meerkats on Leashes

Below are the pictures of Kala and Hari taken during our trip to the San Diego zoo last week. They were on their show-off-walk for the day and they took my breath away! Being named after the Kalahari desert, their native land in South Africa, Kala and Hari are biological sister and brother and are three years old. As small as a healthy grown squirrel, the siblings looked very cute with their stereotypical colored collars. During their walk, they made many stops to sniff on everything on the ground and that resulted in lots of attention from the crowd. Kala and Hari were held up by their care takers when they paused at one spot at the request of some photo takers. Kala and Hari were indeed great models. They had good posture and stayed still until the photos were taken. I asked the care takers if I could pet either Kala or Hari but the answer was negative. They explained that meerkats bite and have long claws to scratch me with, and that was why the care takers had to wear heavy duty gloves. Even thought my request was denied I was still very excited. I walked along with the meerkats and came extremely close to them. They were in arms length and I had to hold back my desire to touch a meerkat for the first time!
